The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with ECOWAS, has organised a sensitisation workshop on ECOWAS protocols for secondary and tertiary students. The workshop was held at the PENSA Hall at KNUST on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, under the theme “Stronger Together for a Brighter Future.” The Director of the Regional Integration Bureau, Mr Felix Akom Nyarko, emphasised why the workshop was organised, stating that they want the youth, especially students, to understand that the ECOWAS Union is there to help them build their future and to make them aware of the protocols available to them. According to Mr Felix Akom Nyarko, some of the ECOWAS protocols include the free movement of goods, people, and services. He explained that if a person is from one of the ECOWAS member states and wishes to travel to another ECOWAS country, they do not need a visa. According to Mama Effe, building a successful relationship requires adherence to four key principles, which she described as the “Four Ds.” She explained that the first D stands for Decision. She noted that the decision one makes should guide every aspect of the relationship. This includes how ready a person is to stay committed to their partner, especially as students, regardless of the challenges that may arise. The second D, she said, is Desire. This refers to the willingness and passion to sustain the relationship, even in the face of obstacles. According to her, a strong desire helps partners persevere and remain committed.
